Independent Health Services, Inc. (IHS Pharmacy) is a family-owned business located in northeast Alabama. Roy Sanderson, the President and owner of IHS, has been in the pharmacy business for more than 50 years. During these years, he has practiced different kinds of pharmacy, including retail, respiratory, and since 1999 with IHS, correctional pharmacy.

Mike Brown

Mike Brown joined IHS in 2008 and is currently responsible for managing and growing business in MS, LA, OK, KS, CO, WI, and MN. Mike also works with IHS pharmacy benefit management, PBM partner to provide for immediate need local pharmacy prescriptions for IHS facilities. Mike is a graduate of Mississippi State University and holds the designation of Managed Health Care Professional (MHP). Prior to joining IHS, Mike was employed in the health and pharmacy services industry working for both regional and national companies. This experience allows Mike insight in to both medical and pharmacy issues facing IHS pharmacy and its customers.
Mike resides in Madison, Mississippi and is married with four children. Hobbies include fishing, hunting and working in his garden.

John Gilbert

John Gilbert joined IHS in 2015 and is responsible for marketing, new business development and account management for the state of Texas. He has over 35 years of experience in the field of Criminal Justice. John retired in 2006 from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as Deputy Director. During his tenure with TDCJ John held many management and leadership positions to include Regional Director, Divisional Director and Deputy Director. Most recently John worked in the private sector with CiviGenics, Community Education Centers and as an independent consultant.
John is married and he and his wife Donna reside in Huntsville, Texas. They have three children and five grandchildren. Hobbies include traveling, hiking, hunting, snorkeling, weightlifting and projects around the house.

Wayne Scott

Wayne became the IHS’s Marketing Director for the State of Texas in 2016. Wayne Scott’s career in criminal justice began in January 1972 when the Texas Department of Corrections (TDC) hired him as a correctional officer.  While working for TDC he earned a BBA in Finance and Management from Sam Houston State University. Mr. Scott graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1972 and was named a Distinguished Alumni in 2000. In 2013, Mr. Scott was the recipient of the Louie Wainwright Award given by the Association of State Correctional Administrators for demonstrating outstanding achievements in the field of corrections. Wayne’s other awards include the Texas Corrections Association-President’s Gavel Award, the Texas Public Employees Association-State Agency Administrator of the Year, and the Texas Corrections Association-Dr. George Beto Hall of Honor Award.
Post retirement, Mr. Scott accepted an appointment from Governor Perry to the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles as a board member and a member of the executive committee of the board. After leaving the Board of Pardons and Paroles, he worked as a criminal justice consultant. As a consultant he performed operational reviews of the Harris County Jail in Houston, Texas and the Cook County Jail in Chicago, Illinois.
Most recently, he has completed projects in Oregon, Ohio, Florida, South Carolina, Arizona, Alabama, and California. Mr. Scott is an active ASCA associate and has worked on a number of ASCA projects including several staffing studies and post incident assessments.

Cathy began this position in 2006. She is responsible for all account development and management in Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan. She has over 40 years health care experience. She is a retired Navy Chief Hospital Corpsman and pharmacy technician with experience in hospital, clinic and shipboard pharmacy. She is a graduate of Union University in Jackson, TN, with a degree in Health Care Administration.

Cathy is married to her husband Mo for 25+ years. They reside in Jackson, TN, with their three fur babies, Rubi, Paws, and Tiny. She is the mother of two grown children, Harrison Jones and Kalie Foust. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren.
